VETERANS DAY ON THE HILL WEDNESDAY, 22 JANUARY 2009 - PRE-REGISTRATION
If you are a veteran, we need you to be on “The Hill”, to meet with your Representatives to discuss issues concerning Iowa Veterans. Check with your local DAV or other service organization for transportation information.
Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and close at Noon. Please stop by the Registration Desk to verify your presence. Registration will be withheld from 10 AM to 10:15 AM while the resolutions are distributed to members of the Iowa House Districts. You can find the 2009 Resolutions here. Print and bring a copy with you.
A coordinated effort to educate active–duty military members, veterans and family members about services available to them. The Warrior Care Web site provides links to information on programs, initiatives and support for wounded, ill and injured servicemembers and their families. (more)

2008 Military Appreciation Monday
The 2008 Military Appreciation Monday dinner will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 from 5 pm to 9 pm in all Golden Corral Restaurants.
Des Moine’s Chapter #20 will be hosting the dinner at Iowa’s only Golden Corral Restaurant in BOONE, IA, 1312 SOUTH STORY STREET 50036, (515)432-7399.
The free "thank you" dinner is available to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to participate in Golden Corral's Military Appreciation Monday dinner.
To date, Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 1.8 million free meals and contributed over $2.53 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization."

November 22, 2008: Women Veterans Museum dedication at Fort Des Moines will start at 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
December 2-3, 2008: Dillard's Department Store Military Appreciation Days will be observed in all Dillard's stores on December 3rd and 4th. 'With gratitude, Dillards recognizes the sacrifices our military forces and their Families make daily for our country.' Servicemembers and their immediate Families will receive 10% off of furniture and appliances, and 20% off of all other merchandise on 2-3 December. Policemen, Firefighters and Active Duty Servicemembers will keep the receipts from their purchases and provide them to the Customer Service office with valid ID's (Families must provide a dependant ID card) and they will be reimbursed the 10- 20% discount for their purchases. *This promotion is not applicable to Retirees and Reservists not on an Active Status*

Show your support for America’s disabled veterans with a pledge to the DAV Charitable Service Trust through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) and other workplace fund drives like the United Way, state and corporate campaigns – CFC Code #11322.

We will properly dispose of it according to federal laws. The DAV will retire your tattered, worn out and frayed American flags with honor!Anything else is desecration! Send or bring your flags to the DAV, Federal Building, Room 566, 210 Walnut Street, Des Moines, IA 50309 and we will dispose of your flags in a proper and dignified manner with full honors and dignity pursuant to the United States Flag Code Section 8K (PL 93-344).
