State Hospital Chairman’s Report
by Lyle Dean
National has come up with a new program for the Veterans that live some distance from the V.A . Hospitals and state nursing homes. This program is like the Older Veterans Assistant Program. This program is designed to help the service personel that are over in Iran and Afghanistan, or other place that we have soldiers now, as well as veterans. We can get Volunteer hours by helping the families with yard work or other jobs around the house. We can also get volunteer hours when we have Forget-Me-Not drives, do service work, help out with the Mobile Service Van when it comes to your town and a number of other areas when we help lighten someone else’s load. All your hours needed to be gathered by the Chapters and sent to me your State Hospital Chairman. I will make sure you obtain credit for these hours with National. You may e-mail me this information at dean@dunkerton.net.
I still go to Iowa City V.A. Hospital to do service work on Mondays. My office is not with the other Veterans Service Officers as before. My office is at the east end of the 1st floor the last door on the right by where the old emergency room was. I am there to do the great service work that the DAV is known for.
I will see you all at the Fall Conference at Tama in October.
I hope you are all safe and doing fine and may God Be with you ALL.
