By Commander Jim Wagner Greetings from Dubuque Iowa
Have I been busy since the Department Convention! My local community is the Tri State area. I continue to be doing everything I can here as well as traveling around the state.
State travel has included a trip to Iowa City where I gave an award to the volunteer of the year. Next I went to Des Moines paying a visit to the VA hospital there. In addition, I had lunch with the NSO's and discussed with them ways we could help them.
My wife and I had the honor of attending an Arena Football game in the Quad Cities sponsored by the Army National Guard. This was an event to honor the guys and gals that are faithfully serving this country now and our veterans who have served before them.
Sr. Vice Commander Dave Thornberg and I attend the Commander and Adjutants training program presented by the National Organization at DAV Headquarters in Cold Springs, Kentucky. One thing we have wanted to do and this meeting confirmed the need to visit all of our Chapters through out the State of Iowa. We are in the process of splitting the state and going to each of your Chapter meetings.
At the National Convention in Las Vegas we had a great delegation from Iowa. I personally served on the Employment Committee. Others had various responsibilities, committee assignments and attended training seminars that were very educational.
These are but a few of the opportunities I have had as your Commander since the convention in May. Hope to see all of you at the school in Tama in October, I will share the latest with you then.
