Prayer in the changes:
y now the elections are over and we are celebrating or moaning the results. Soon the new president will be installed into office, local, state and national representatives will take their places and life will continue to move along.
I believe we will still see war in the news, from not only that which the United States endeavors against terrorism, but in other countries as well. What will our leaders choose to say and do, we cannot be sure. What we can be sure of is that there is going to be some changes going on, and we hope of the better!
We can do something about today and tomorrow. It is in the power of each of our hearts, minds and souls. God says we are to pray for our leaders appointed over us. Even if we did not choose the President Elect, the Congressman of our districts, Mayors, etc, we need to accept that the nation and communities have spoken and lift them all up for the spiritual guidance, wisdom and knowledge they all need. Our Commander in Chief will make choices that will affect whether or not we continue in this war we are fighting against terrorism, engage further in this war or with the others we hear about around the world. Great wisdom and guidance are needed here.
Pray for our troops as well, alongside the native persons of the countries we are in. You and I as disabled veterans have been on the front lines of Americas defense, and I am very sure there were many who were praying when we were there. It’s our turn now to pull the duty of praying for Gods will in this land and around the world.
Christmas is also just around the corner. It is a time of celebration of life, a celebration we can share with those who are not here with us, but serving our country dutifully. Remember them by sending a card or package through the many organizations that can make this Christmas more loving and enjoyable for them. Many homeless are veterans too, but are often forgotten. DAV has said and continues to say: We don’t leave our wounded behind”. We can show this through how we touch their lives, especially during the holiday season.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May we all celebrate this wonderful life and gift of freedom that we cherish.
